Brian will focus on Hobart being a great place to live, work, and enjoy life
Brian will work to protect residents' rights against loss of amenity (sunlight etc.) in residential areas
Brian believes that, with new houses or apartments, 'discretion' should not be used to adversely affect the amenity of adjoining dwellings, particularly to do with:
- blocking sunlight on habitable rooms
- overshadowing or dominating adjoining dwellings
- being in keeping with the surrounding area
- resulting in the loss of significant heritage values
Solar panels are becoming cheaper and will, most likely, be on virtually every roof in a few years time. Loss of sunlight and overshadowing could severely reduce their performance.
